Triple Play: Rivertowns Banquet, PAValleys.com Race Team & Trail Running

By: Ray Adams February 5th, 2010

Three bits: My racing buddies all got together at the River Town Race Series (RTRS) season awards luncheon, held at Danville High School. Participants of the 2009 RTRS were awarded for their accomplishments in the series.  It was really cool to see everyone with whom I’d brushed elbows throughout the year.  The food was as good as the company, provided by Emma’s Food For Life.

DSC00977The big news item which was hyped up going into the banquet was the unveiling of the new 2010 PAValley.com racing team.  This group of elite racers was sponsored by visitPA.com for five years, but for 2010 our focus will be on helping to promote and represent the RTRS, which is awesome.  We’ve added a couple folks to help cover all our bases and I believe that our team will be stronger than ever.  See a TV bit on the squad and the banquet here.  Too bad the footage makes my teammates look like they train at 5 mph.  I am pretty sure they can go faster than that.

We will be attending the majority of the RTRS events, all of the Mid-Atlantic Super Series races, the Trans-Sylvania MTB Epic, regional duathlons and triathlons, and blogging about our adventures all year.

The other story of the weekend was a sweet trail run that Nancy and I did at R.B. Winter State Park.   When you think that the warm weather and rain have melted all the snow, head to this park and I bet you’ll find you were mistaken.  The foggy, dismal weather set the stage for a horror movie back-drop, but no sign of Jason, Freddie, or the chainsaw massacre guy.  We hit up some sweet singletrack trails mixed with fire roads for a total of about 5-6 miles.  I never thought running could be so pleasant.
