A Beautiful Day at Springton Manor Farm in Chester County

chicken-coop-springton-manor1Yesterday was an absolutely beautiful day. One that was best spent outdoors soaking up the sun and enjoying the fresh air. I had always heard about the farm at Springton Manor and thought it was a great day for us to go for a picnic at the farm.

Although we live only minutes away from Glenmoore, we have never visited Springton Manor Farm before so I wasn’t really sure what to expect. As we drove down the long winding drive way we passed  the beautiful manor house , initially part of a William Penn Manor and to the left we had a breathtaking view of the the rolling hills of Chester County. We pulled up to the barn and we greeted by “Farmer Jim” and the newest addition to the farm  “Brownie” the four week old baby goat. The barn is home to a few horses, cows, pigs, and goats. Everything is at kid level so my kids loved that they were able to see all of the animals without having to ask for help.

Springton Manor Farm is one of the most kid friendly places that we have visited. There was a  “Farm Passport” in the barn that the kiddos took from stall to stall stamping with like animal stamps as they visit the animals. Nothing makes a four year old happier than a stamp! My daughter was in her glory.
After we had all of our stamps in our passport we headed out to visit the chickens, cows and horses.

“Brownie” the Goat followed us to the chicken coop.  He was so cute! He didn’t really walk it was more of a hop. My daughter is still (hours later) talking about her fun day at the farm and asking when we can go back.  One of the things I liked best about our visit to Springton Manor was that it was FREE! We were there for nearly three hours. We walked the paved trails, visited the Butterfly House,  had a picnic lunch near the pond, climbed on rocks and played in the beautiful flower garden. If my little ones didn’t take an afternoon nap we would have stayed even longer.

As were we packing up to head home my daughter made me promise that we would go back and visit sometime soon. A promise I will definitely keep. It was a great day and we all really enjoyed ourselves.

Sounds like a very cool place to visit. I love that it’s free. I’ll have to pass along to my mom so she can bring the grandkids when they’re in town.

You can make a whole day of this. Perfect way to entertain and educate!

Thanks for introducing me to Springton Manor.
