Frank’s $5 Deals in Pittsburgh

By: Frank McDade August 7th, 2008

$5.  It seems as though the whole nation is adhering to this craze in $5 bargains and Pittsburgh is not letting itself be left out!  My favorite thing on a Monday night is $5 movies in the South Side Works.  College student’s admittance at the South Side Works Cinema is $5 any Monday night and on top of that they receive free popcorn!  There are always people there, even when school is not in session, and at the same time it’s not overwhelming to the point of not being able to see your movie of choice.  Come back Thursday night and the movie is $6, but you will miss out on the popcorn.  This movie theater is in a prime location in the Southside.

We have so much to do beforehand from grabbing a bite to eat to shopping around at our favorite clothing store; really the movie is just a cherry on our sundae.  By the time we are done hanging out I barely remember we came to see a movie.  Later on in the night, if you feel as if that popcorn wasn’t enough, the $5 bargain continues if you stroll on over to Atwood Street in Oakland.  Late night hunger can be satisfied by Souf Side Steaks $5 Philly Cheese Steak or Pizza Roma’s $5 cheese pizza.  I’ll tell you a secret too, Antoon’s Pizza is almost right next door to Pizza Roma and it’s $4.90, that’s cheaper than the $5 mega deal!  I’m not picking favorites. I’m just giving options!  For those of us of drinking age, the late late party can be finished at Spice Café (also on Atwood Street) with a $5 pitcher of beer.  So there you have it, a $15 night out that will take you quite a while to complete.  You can thank that catchy TV jingle for this one.

Check me out!
